The last few days have been very frustrating pokerwise (not to mention England’s abysmal batting effort V New Zealand yesterday). My PT database has me up $80 through 1600 hands of 6-max $25nl, running at just under 10PTBB/100 hands, which is OK i guess, but nothing compared to what i would be at if it weren’t for a few hands i played abysmaly last night. I’m also $37 down through 1k hands of FR, which is not good.
I don’t know why, but there’s just times in a poker game that you’re mind flips a switch and you go into self-destruct mode. I realise that i’m probably not the worse when it comes to this, and i think i tilt less than most players, but it’s still one of the most frustrating things ever when you wake up from a mind-blank and see that you just played this hand-

This came at the end of a long session last night and pissed me of no end. PF i’m OK with, i re-raise pretty widely against LP openers from the blinds in general, but this guy was fairly tight(which i would have noticed if i’d been paying attention) and i think calling>>>>3-betting in this spot. Once he calls, i acctualy like checking the flop as i really can’t stand much action here and if i’m being honest i’d prefer that i either flopped a flush or jack-shit so i didn’t have to deal with the rest of the hand. I call because i can’t check fold TP, but i really didn’t like doing it. The turn is the horror show, betting is pretty awful here, but calling when he shoves is even worse. I didn’t even think about it, i looked at the pot size and thought to myself ‘Hey, pot odds call right?” for about a second then clicked the call button. I’m probably overreacting to this, but i think it’s so important to eradicate complete dumpster fires like this because they really fuck up your win-rate at the end of the day.
I played the $10 deepstack on stars which i thought was amazing, having 30 minute levels suits my style sooooo much more than normal tourneys and playing deepstacked is awesome. I got pretty lucky in the first few levels, stacking two people with a turned flush/straight and i stayed in the top 50 in chips throughout pretty much. I was cruising along 4 hours in before this happened -

I really think i should have flat called the inital push given that i’m so deepstacked and the player bumped it up enough to make it hard for anyone to come over the top without JJ+ AK+ , i’ve busted out with AK in my last 180000 tourneys it seems and i think i’m going to start looking at how i play it in future.
God dam that was long, next entry will be shorter, i promise.
